PRLog - Dec. 15, 2014 - GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Fully redesigned after some time off the market, the 2015 Chevy Colorado has been named this year's Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The all-new mid-sized pickup beat out competitors like the Ford F-150 and the GMC Canyon. Drivers in the Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights area can find the new truck at Sunrise Chevrolet.

The Motor Trend Truck of the Year award is widely considered to be the most prestigious yearly award given to pickup manufacturers. It is only given out to new or highly-redesigned models with this year's competition featuring seven different models and ten total vehicles

A winner is voted on by committee and judging is based on a variety of factors ranging from the mechanics of the engine, quality of the interior, and the character of the overall driving experience. The 2015 Chevy Colorado was named the award winner in a rare unanimous vote.

The new Colorado was singled out for its accessible price, its functional body size, and its stellar fuel economy for this class. Edward Lohr, the editor-in-chief of Motor Trend, had this to say about the award winner, “Colorado is a smart, capable, and refreshingly honest truck that makes a strong value and efficiency statement. It’s perfectly sized and suited for the needs of many of today’s truck users.”

After being absent from the market for several years, the Colorado reemerged this year into an automotive landscape that offers drivers few choices for mid-sized pickups. The model quickly rose to the top of the segment rankings, and presented a viable alternative to the inefficient and prohibitively large pickups that most drivers associate with the class.

The 2015 Chevy Colorado runs on either a 2.5L four-cylinder engine capable of 200 hp or a 3.6L V6 with a higher 305 hp output. It is rated to tow up to 7,000 pounds and comes in either crew or extended cab styles. Fuel efficiency reaches as high as 27 mpg on the highway. Interior technologies include a 4G LTE internet hotspot and the Chevy MyLink infotainment touchscreen.

More than any other feature, however, it was the new Colorado's size that the judges singled out for distinction. Thanks to the model's smaller size, it is easier to drive and easier to park while still delivering the kind of functional utility that drivers expect in a pickup. That kind of balance is rare, which is why the Colorado is the Truck of the Year.

To learn more about the 2015 Chevy Colorado, interested drivers can contact Sunrise Chevrolet or visit the dealership. Open Monday through Saturday each week, the dealership is located at 414 E. North Avenue in Glendale Heights, Illinois.
