Hindustan student Nishita Vegi wins scholarship award for KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden

Chennai, February, 2015: Nishita Vegi, A Hindustan University student has earned the highly competitive KTH Scholarship after winning the KTH masters challenge sponsored by ABB, Ericsson and SAAB. The award will pay her tuition fee, living and travel expenses while she works on her master’s degree at KTH Royal institute of technology in Sweden this year. And she will also have an opportunity to do her internship and thesis at SAAB, Sweden and has a possibility of getting a job there after her masters.

Over 4,000 engineering students and recent graduates from renowned universities in India competed for scholarships to attend a master’s degree program at Sweden’s top technical university, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and internships at Sweden’s top engineering companies. The competition offered four scholarships in Aerospace engineering, Electric power engineering, engineering design, Wireless systems at KTH, Sweden. And 12 work opportunities at ABB, Ericsson and SAAB. The first prize winners received the full scholarship. The second and third prize winners get a chance to do their internship and thesis in the sponsor company.

Nishita Vegi who is currently pursuing her Bachelors in aeronautical engineering in Hindustan University has been awarded and recognized as the first prize winner of the KTH Master’s challenge 2015. After showing great skill and knowledge in logical reasoning, Swedish society and aerospace engineering. She received the prize from Lars-Olof Lindgren, Chairman & Managing director of SAAB India technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Nishita Vegi a resident of Chennai dedicates her success to her family,friends and most importantly her teachers. Her father V.R.Naidu said “I cannot be more proud of her and i absolutely adore her and I am pretty sure she will make a wonderful Engineer and succeed in every aspect of her life.” Her mother Lavanya states that “Right from her childhood she has been fascinated by flights and I am glad she going to achieve her dream.”

“I always liked learning new things and being organized is something I am really good at, I think it is one of the main reasons I won the scholarship other than my Acads,” Nishita said. “But I always made it a point to participate in curricular and extracurricular activities which made my profile stronger. My friends have helped me remain calm and focused all the time.”

Nishita also has an interest in Aeromodelling and represented her University for a competition held in Atlanta, USA. She also has an interest in event management and had her own company “Hypnotikz”. She was also selected and elected to organize a technical fest in her college which makes her popular in her peer group as well.

The competition was open for everyone pursuing a degree or with a degree in a relevant field on September 30, 2014. About 4000 students from all over India applied for it. The top 20 in each of the four fields were chosen based on three quizzes on logical reasoning, Swedish society and Aerospace engineering, a technical essay and a motivational essay. Later, the top twenty were asked to submit all the documents required for the application which included a statement of purpose and letter of recommendations from the teachers. Based on which the top three were selected and announced on December 19, 2014. And all of them were invited to attend the prize distribution ceremony held on January 7th in ABB Bangalore in the presence of representatives from ABB, SAAB and Ericsson. And the final results were declared on the same day.

Yash Shah from IIT BHU won the third prize, Piyush Deshmuk of VIT won the second prize and Nishita vegi won the first prize in aerospace engineering.  The other program winners belonged to various IITs, NITs and other reputed colleges from all over India.
