Created by the renowned pastry chef, Leanne Beck, the Baker and Builder Café’s Market Day in Parramatta is held every Saturday morning to bring the local food community closer together. This market is very popular and it opens 8.00 am and closes at 4.00 pm. There are parking stations throughout the city - but the nearest is in Ross Street or Grose Street for those who choose to drive.
“Our market days are becoming a highlight of the Parramatta area, and are attracting hundreds of patrons weekly. On Saturdays, the Baker & Builder host a farmer's market in the courtyard right in front of the cafe. You can pick up everything from fresh fruit and veg too cheap as chips flowers, and there is always some form of entertainment for kids, like kids gardening workshops and even pony rides. All of these activities are absolutely free! The market is growing week by week and runs from 8.00am – 4.00 pm,” says the spokesperson from The Baker and Builder Café.
The chief chef, Leanne Beck says, “As soon as you walk into The Baker & Builder Café you are met with the amazing smell and sight of freshly baked goods coming straight out of the oven in the very unique open plan kitchen right in front of you. You never know what sweet treats will be waiting for you when you arrive at The Baker & Builder. The selection changes daily. One day it may be lemon meringue tarts, sponge cake and brownies, the next it may be cookie monster cupcakes, passionfruit melting moments and apple cakes.”
The Baker & Builder Cafe is really spacious, so it is an ideal place to catch up with friends or mother's group, as there is plenty of room for prams. Within this building there is an excellent Cole’s supermarket, a medical centre and a few other shops. The Baker and Builder Café occupy a prime location looking out onto the sunny courtyard of the building. Seating is available both inside and out, and there are high chairs for little blossoms to sit in. There are colouring books and crayons to keep the kids occupied and plenty of space for them to wander around, both inside and out, during "off peak" times.
Apart from conducting weekly markets in Parramatta, The Baker and Builder Café also specialises in offering catering services. “We can create events inside the cafe, courtyard, off site and at home with abilities to do cater for 10 guests to 1000 guests ranging from high tea, sit down, canapés or buffets,” states the spokesperson.
