Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. (NYSE: HIG) swung to a second quarter loss of 6 cents per share compared with earnings of $1.73 per share due to investment losses and a drop in premiums but the results were not as bad as analysts expected. Shares of the insurer climbed $2.03 to close at $16.99.
