Washington, DC – On Nov 5th, internet entrepreneur Cheryl Cox launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for her new dating website ‘Love Schmove’. Unlike traditional match-making sites, Love Schmove takes the awkwardness out of online dating through the concept of ‘backers’. Instead of having users write lengthy descriptions of their personality, the site uses family and friends as ‘backers,’which give more insight into each user’s behaviors and who they really are as a person.
“For most people talking about yourself is weird, especially on a dating site where you are trying to get people to like you,”says Cox. “I created love schmove for people like me who don’t like online dating. I took all of the things that people dislike and turned them into positives. For example, every user must have a backer and a current photo.”

In contrast to dating websites like Match.com, OKCupid, and Tinder, Love Schmove also allows users to sign up their friends. In addition, users do not have to be ‘single.’They can also be supporters of friends or family, providing descriptions and recommendations to help their loved ones get quality dates.
Having already created a beta version of the website, Cox decided to bring the project to Kickstarter to further fund the development of the application, including additional features, an improved user experience, and to begin building a mobile app. By pledging to the project, backers will receive access to exclusive rewards including free access to the Love Schmove website for themselves or friends and family members.
