LDK Solar Co. Ltd. (NYSE: LDK) posted an unexpected profit for the third quarter of 27 cents per American Depository Share compared with 77 cents per ADS last year and forecast fourth quarter results well ahead of estimates. Shares of the solar wafer maker rose 60 cents to $8.60.
