Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE: MRK) will pay a premium of approximately
$8.4 billion to buy Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: CBST). Shares
of Cubist Pharmaceuticals leaped $26.36 to $100.72 while Merck stock
eased 3 cents to $61.46.
