GESS Dubai to boost creativity and knowledge sharing in classrooms

By: Get News

Dubai, UAE – Improving the teaching and learning experience will be a key highlight of the workshops being organised as part of the next edition of GESS Dubai, the region’s leading educational exhibition and conference.

Under the theme “Innovation in Education through Creativity and Knowledge Sharing” GESS Dubai will have interactive filmmaking workshops to be conducted by Deepak Jain, festival director of the Children’s International Film Festival; as well as sessions on how neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) can enrich student performance in classrooms.

“This is an exciting collaboration and a welcome addition to the many new exciting features that we will introduce at next year’s edition of the show,” said Matt Thompson, Project Director, F&E Group, organisers of GESS Dubai scheduled to take on 1-3 March 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Since its inception, GESS has introduced innovations aimed at helping education decision makers in schools throughout the Gulf region adopt the very latest technologies, products and solutions aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning experience. The featured workshops on filmmaking will help teachers in using multi-media technologies to foster creativity and improve knowledge sharing.

“At GESS Dubai, CIFF experts are going to share their practical knowledge of making films and empower educators to enrich the learning experience using film as a potent tool for edutainment. Through the workshops, teachers will be able to create their own content instead of relying on free-to-watch content on the Internet; which more often than not lacks local context and sensitivity,” explained Jain, whose annual children’s film festival aims to encourage young and aspiring filmmakers in the UAE as well as help create a unique children’s content/film market to unlock the commercial value of meaningful and inspirational films for young people.

Meanwhile, noted international inspirational speaker and trainer David Hodgson has also been confirmed to attend next year’s Global Education Forum, the conference component of GESS Dubai, held in cooperation with the UAE’s Ministry of Education.

Hodgson specialises in helping schools and organisations reach their potential. He blends humour, NLP and psychology to create powerful training that has a positive and lasting impact. He has written six education books including the best-selling Inspirational Teaching Activities: Bringing NLP in to the Classroom. He is a Master Practitioner and NLP Trainer and has developed The Buzz, an innovative approach to applying personality type theory to boost performance of teachers and their students.

“This year promises to be the best ever, I’m really looking forward to sharing all the latest ideas from teachers applying NLP techniques to improve classroom learning, especially a new upside learning strategy and superhero training school,” said Hodgson.

The filmmaking and NLP workshops are part of an exciting mix of sessions which promise to make the Global Education Conference, held concurrently during GESS Dubai, a must-attend for educators. Conference producer Rhona Greenhill says, “We will be showcasing trends in digital education as well as excellent resources on how to successfully implement science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) programmes in classrooms. There will also be early years workshops from different providers as well as an early years Plenary session.”

A dynamic combination of exhibition and conference, the 9th edition of GESS Dubai is the region’s premier showcase for educational supplies and solutions; and also includes an extensive, world-class educational, CPD certified programme to help teachers, educators and academics of all levels develop their skills and gain insight from international experts.
