Utepils Brewing Supports Local Nonprofit in Ending Homelessness Among Veterans With B.R.D. Release

MINNEAPOLIS - May 9, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

European-inspired brewery Utepils Brewing helps raise awareness about the increasing issue of homelessness among Minnesota veterans with a special beer release: B.R.D. (Beer. Ready. Drink!). A delicious, Munich-style helles lager, this newest addition to the brewery’s award-winning selection of European-style beers pours a pale gold with brilliantly balanced flavors and a refreshingly clean finish.

B.R.D. will be available to the general public beginning Friday, May 10. And every time patrons purchase a draft serving or can of B.R.D., 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MAC-V) — a nonprofit organization committed to serving local veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

“B.R.D. is the perfect alignment of a local cause tied to world service, our expertise in crafting lager and enabling individuals to make a difference by taking action — especially since it’s a fun action to take,” said Dan Justesen, president at Utepils.

To help kick off the B.R.D. release, Utepils will be hosting a private event for veterans and active service men and women on Thursday, May 9, starting at 4 p.m. The event will allow local heroes the opportunity to sample B.R.D. in Utepils’ Fernweh Taproom. Also attending the event will be special guest, veteran and author John Kriesel, who will be selling and signing copies of his triumphant memoir Still Standing: The Story of SSG John Kriesel.

“In anticipation of Memorial Day weekend, we wanted to do something extra special to say thank you to the brave men and women serving our country, as well as encourage the community to get involved and help end homelessness among veterans,” Justesen continued. “Our armed forces have traveled the world, likely tasting other European styles of beers. B.R.D. plays tribute to their many travels and everlasting comradery. It also offers them a chance to help those comrades as they toast to good friends, share experiences and create memories with loved ones.”

Friends and family can enjoy B.R.D. and other Utepils favorites by visiting their brewery, nestled in the Harrison neighborhood of Minneapolis. B.R.D. is also on draft at many fine bars and restaurants and available at nearby retailers.

Bernick's Distributing of St. Cloud and several other retailers will also be adding onto donations with each beer sold. Retailers who wish to offer B.R.D. across Minnesota can ask their local Bernick's representatives or contact Utepils Brewing Co.
