Aspect Medical Systems (NASDAQ:ASPM) shares surged 55% to trade at $11.96 after the Company announced that Covidien has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Aspect for $12.00 per share for a total of approximately $210 million. Aspect Medical Systems, Inc. focuses in developing, manufacturing and marketing BIS system which provides information that allows clinicians to assess and manage a patient’s level consciousness and assist the clinician in better determining the amount of anesthesia or sedation needed by each patient.

Compton Petroleum Corporation (NYSE :CMZ) shares moved up 8% and closed at $1.26. The Company announced this morning that is has entered into purchase and sale agreements for the sale of various overriding royalties to two parties. According to Tim Granger, the CEO, the sale of the overriding royalties is another key step in realizing the Company objective in reducing the Company debt. CMZ is engaged in exploring, developing and producing natural gas, natural gas liquids, and crude oil in Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.

Tri-Valley Corp (AMEX:TIV) shares spiked 76% to trade at $2.53 on no news. The Company is in the business of exploring, acquiring and developing petroleum and precious minerals primarily in California, Nevada and Alaska. Tri-Valley has been in business as a successful operating company since 1963, and has been a full reporting 12 (g) publicly traded Delaware Corporation since 1972.

India Globalization Capital Inc. (AMEX:IGC) shares jumped 17% trading at $1.97 on 4,771,000 volume. That’s 10 fold increases in volume compare to its 10 days average volume. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, IGC is corporation formed to acquired and grow operating business located in India through merger, capital stock exchange, asset acquisition and other similar business combination. The IGC is the only Indian infrastructure company listed and trading in the United States of America.

IsoRay, Inc. (AMEX:ISR) soared 40% trading at $1.25 on 1.3M volume after the Company announced today that the Cornell Medical Center performed on Auguest 5th 2009 the world’s first Celsium-131 implant for a recurrent head and neck cancer. Up to now, the patient tolerated the implant procedure well and has had no adverse effects that can be attributed to the use of Cs-131 seeds.
