A new police chief has been named in Dallas.

Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – A new police chief for the city of Dallas was named on Wednesday. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, David Brown, a 26-year veteran police officer, has been named the chosen replacement for retiring Dallas Police Department Chief David Kunkle.

Brown is quoted in the report as stating of his new position during a news conference on Wednesday, “I'm very humbled. I'm very excited. I love this city and all its citizens… I'm just honored to be chosen as the new chief of the police department.”

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert is further quoted in the report as stating of Brown as the choice for the position, “If you've got an internal candidate that's strong, that matches up well, that is always the preferred route that you want to take… He knows the issues; everybody knows him. Those are things that you want to have whenever you make a selection.”
