PROS 13th Annual Revenue Management Conference Highlights Its Program Content

Mr. Mitsuo Tomita is a Senior Manager of Revenue Management who has been with All Nippon Airways (ANA), Ltd. since 2003, based in Japan. Mr. Kenji Oba is the President of Juro International Systems (JIS). He has over 20 years experience in transportation systems consulting and management, including 13 years of quantitative experience in major airline planning.
  • Karl Isler, head of Operations Research and Strategy at the revenue management and pricing department of Swiss International Airlines, will talk about Fenceless Fare-Structures, Revenue Management Systems, and the New Role of the Analyst. With the introduction of fenceless fare-structures, traditional RM systems have to adapt to prevent spiral down. Mr. Isler will review the use of manual overrides to achieve this. As the optimization and forecasting capability of the system evolves to take into account buy-down and even competitive scenarios, the role of the analysts will change again. Game theory and simulations lead us to suggest that the Analysts role should not be reduced to adjusting the forecasts of the new-style systems while leaving the optimization to the computer. On the contrary, the responsibility of the analysts must grow as they need to define the strategy on how to deal with the competition.
  • Henriette Thilert from Germanwings will present: How to Take Advantage of On-Line Sales Information in the RM Equation. Ms. Thilerts presentation focuses on Web Analytics used in tandem with revenue management to provide a powerful tool for revenue optimization. In short, on-line sales provide vital information that can guide airlines in improving their product offering, enhancing their customers experiences, and maximizing revenue. Henriette Thilert heads the German low-cost carrier Germanwings`s revenue management and pricing unit.
