Founder Of Non-profit Organization Creates Support Groups For Sexual Abuse Victims

By: PRLog
PR Log - Nov 23, 2011 - UNION, N.J.  In just five short months, Angel Wings Bridge Foundation has made a positive impact in our community by helping numerous women come forth to break their silence about being sexually abused.  Up until now, sexual abuse victims had no place to go where they could identify with other victims who share the same pain. Founder and sexual abuse advocate, Sharon R. Wells, has turned her vision and burning desire to help sexual abuse victims into a reality.  Wells, who also is a sexual abuse survivor, stated that other than church or therapy, there are no adequate resources and support available for sexual abuse victims.

Sharon is a courageous and passionate advocate who volunteers and dedicates much of her time helping victims to realize that the abuse wasn’t their fault.  After releasing her memoir/self-help book, “Without Permission – A Spiritual Journey to Healing,” in February, 2011, she received overwhelming response from women who shared they were victims too. It was at that pinnacle moment when she realized that she had to do something to help those who suffer in silence.  Wells began facilitating workshops to empower victims and encourage them to heal.  She’s stated that there have been women who’ve attended the workshops who opened up and shared about their abuse for the very first time.  She draws from her own past and candidly shares how the deep-dark secrets negatively impacted her life.  But her motto is to make lemons into lemonade, which makes her message so powerful.

“I see so many people in pain and who are suffering, which is why it was imperative for me to start the non-profit organization to link victims to resources. We are living in times where people need hope and healing.”  In light of the recent Penn State sexual abuse allegations, that should be a wake up call to our community.  The only way we are going to protect our children from becoming victims is by speaking up about this issue and stop brushing it under the rug.

She holds a special place in her heart for women in transitional facilities and who are incarcerated because she knows that many of the women ended up there because they were victims of abuse too.  Currently, she is working to bring the workshops and support groups to the women in prison as well.

Ms. Wells is the voice for the voiceless victims who suffer in silence but need to be heard. She reminds us to keep the Penn State abuse victims, and all abuse victims in our prayers during this Thanksgiving holiday.

Sharon will be releasing a beginner’s workbook for sexual abuse victims in January, 2012.  Without Permission – A Spiritual Journey to Healing paperback books can be purchased on her website for $15.00: http://www.angelwingspublications.com
