PR Log - Dec 06, 2011 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced today that it would restart production at its Laem Chabang Plant in Thailand starting from November 14. At first, production will be limited then gradually increased.
Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s (MMC’s wholly-owned subsidiary in Thailand) Laem Chabang Plant was not damaged from the recent flooding in parts of Thailand to the north of the factory. However, MMC decided to halt production at the Laem Chabang Plant from the night shift of October 13* because of difficulties in parts procurement due to flood damage at its local parts suppliers.
MMC, together with its partner parts suppliers, have been putting their best efforts towards resuming production at the Laem Chabang Plant during this time. As a result, MMC has begun to see a gradual improvement in its parts procurement situation; enough so that parts needed for some of its models produced at the Laem Chabang Plant are now available again. This led MMC to decide to restart limited production at the plant.
More time will be necessary for MMC’s supply chain to recover completely due to the devastating impact of the massive flooding on suppliers in Thailand. However, MMC and its partners will continue to put their best efforts towards resuming normal production levels at the Laem Chabang Plant.
In addition, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation extends its deepest sympathies to those who are affected by the recent flooding in the northern and central areas of Thailand and expresses its sincere wishes for the earliest possible recovery of the regions affected.
