“Mega-Churches, Methodists and Muslims: New Trends in American Religion” is just one of the 12 exciting topics that will be covered at University of Houston-Clear Lake’s “Small Talk, Big Ideas” breakfast event April 17, 7:30 a.m., in the university’s Bayou Building Forest Room. University Associate Professor of Sociology Mike McMullen will examine the role of mega-churches in American religion and how change affects national faiths. McMullen spent a year teaching at American University in Cairo as a Fulbright Scholar. Other topics at this annual event include parenting, women in the workplace, publishing, health and wellness, collaboration, media, space tourism, finding balance, working for justice and living in space. Tickets are $12 for UH-Clear Lake alumni, students and staff, while community friends pay $15.
