Patriot Coal Files For Bankruptcy, Coal Stocks Fall

Shares of Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: ANR) lost 65 cents to close at $8.02, Arch Coal Inc. (NYSE: ACI) slipped 48 cents to close at $6.67 and James River Coal Co. (Nasdaq: JRCC) fell 67 cents to close at $2.87 after Patriot Coal (NYSE: PCX) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Patriot Coal stock plunged $1.58 to close at $0.61.
