Glencore Raises Offer for Xstrata; Shares Jump

Glencore made a dramatic about-turn on Friday, raising its offer for miner Xstrata to mollify major shareholders such as Qatar, who had opposed the previous $34 billion offer, sending Xstrata shares 9 percent higher in London.
