The recent roaring success of Apple’s latest iPhone goes to show that the US technology giant remains the dominant player in its field, according to iPhone and iPad accessories retailer The Snugg.

More than five million iPhone 5 handsets were sold during the device’s first weekend on sale, cementing Apple’s position as one of the biggest technology companies on the planet. At some stores, hundreds of people queued up hours in advance of the iPhone 5’s launch in the hope of being among the first people to get their hands on the smartphone.

“Consumers have really taken the iPhone 5 to their hearts, and there seems to be no end in sight to Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market,” said Richard Mercer, Marketing Director at The Snugg. “For weeks, people have been eagerly snapping up iPhone 5 Cases and accessories – and with Christmas just around the corner, we’re expecting to see continuing healthy demand over the next couple of months.”

The iPhone 5 made its debut last month to critical acclaim, and it is widely expected to continue selling strongly throughout the festive season. According to reports at the time, the device sold some 20 times faster than the iPhone 4 and 4S. In addition to the iPhone 5, Apple also confirmed recently that it planned to launch the new iPad Mini in time for Christmas, adding to expectations that the company is in for a bumper yuletide.

If you’ve picked up an iPhone 5 and you’re looking for some snazzy accessories, you can find an extensive selection at TheSnugg.com including iPad 3 cases.
