'Wealth Effect' Driven More by Homes Than Stocks

In pure dollar terms, Americans are nearly as wealthy as ever, but they may not believe it (or spend like it) because three-quarters of that wealth comes from equities. Only if the housing market continues to strengthen will the so-called 'wealth effect' start to kick in.
