Blooming Butterflies, a nonprofit organization that outfits anyone struggling to get back into the workforce has announced that they have partnered with Designer Exchange, a top-quality designer, Houston-based consignment shop.

“We sell all these beautiful designer clothing and accessory items from quality designers, like Chanel, Gucci, and Ferragamo, on consignment for 80% below cost, but even those huge discounts aren’t necessarily affordable for people who have been out of work and are struggling,” Designer Exchange owner Michelle Puckett explains.

Houston’s largest consignment store, Designer Exchange’s 8,000-square-foot showroom is located in the Westchase District on Westheimer Road in Houston, and sells men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing from size 0 to 24, as well as accessories and housewares. “There’s something for everyone,” Michelle points out.

Designer Exchange, which first opened its doors in 2005, relocated to its current location in July of 2012. “We needed a lot more room,” Michelle says, with a smile. “This location is virtually five times the size of our first store, and we need every inch of it.”

That’s not surprising considering Designer Exchange offers items from an impressive number of top designers, including Cartier, Christian Dior, Coach, D&G, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, St. John, Swarovski, Tiffany, Versace, according to Michelle.

Other up and coming designers are also featured, including Paris designer Malick Dadame of King of Luxe, Paris, whose newest line is now available at Designer Exchange, and a new line of swimwear from bathing suit designer, Forever Young Swimwear. Designer Exchange even offers private group shopping after hours by appointment, a fun way to shop for designer clothes and accessories over refreshments.

Premium customer service has always been the focus of Designer Exchange, Michelle says, from providing quality items to shoppers to private shopping after hours. Now, they’re taking that goal of service to a whole new level.

“It’s about showing people respect,” Michelle says. “A lot of our neighbors these days need a hand. By helping others help themselves, I see my store as a way to help people feel good about themselves.

“We’ve always accepted donations to help battered women, senior citizens, and homeless families living in shelters, and now we’re delighted to support Blooming Butterflies, to help outfit those eager to return to work.”
