Stock futures edge lower; CPI, Empire State ahead

U.S. stock futures edged lower Friday ahead of data that could show a big jump in inflation, along with a fresh gauge on consumer sentiment, all on a day the Standard & Poor’s 500 index could finally push past its Oct. 2007 record close.
