Drugs in development would treat one disease, but unlike drugs of today, they would prevent 20 others. In effect, they would slow aging"
PRLog - Jul 08, 2013 - NEW YORK -- NeoMedigen Limited, a public company traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange Main Board under Ticker Symbol NEOM:BH announced today advancements in its bio-molecular technology and their relevance to obesity and aging skin. The Company has discovered that a single anti-aging enzyme SIRT-1 can be targeted directly through of if it's external activators RezGen5. Normally, this enzyme is activated in the body by calorie restriction and exercise. The expectation is that NeoMedigen’s small molecule will avert degenerative diseases of aging like diabetes, heart disease, immune function, corrective dermatology, and Alzheimer’s.

The company's current focus is on the prevention of childhood obesity & aging skin. NeoMedigen's RezGen5  is designed to target childhood obesity which is one of the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century. The problem is global and is steadily affecting many low- and middle-income countries, particularly in urban settings. The prevalence has increased at an alarming rate. Globally, in 2010 the number of overweight children under the age of five, is estimated to be over 42 million. Close to 35 million of these are living in developing countries.

Overweight and obese children are likely to stay obese into adulthood and more likely to develop non communicable diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases at a younger age. Overweight and obesity, as well as their related diseases, are largely preventable.

NeoMedigen's formulation for skin, NeoDerm/ND6 is specifically designed to avoid preventive dermatology with Botox, collagen shots, fillers, cosmetic surgery and other quick- fix solutions that come with health risks such as, soreness, pain, nausea or recurring headaches, weak or drooping muscles, muscle stiffness, infection, abscess, scarring, hematoma, necrosis, nerve damage, and asymmetrical outcome.

Stuart Garret, Co-Chairman and Founder of Neomedigen, commented, "NeoMedigen is advancing a new class of therapeutics for diseases of aging. Most anti-aging molecules have at least one of the following mechanisms of action controlling: Inflammation, Immunity, DNA repair, Nutrition, Hydration, or Oxidative stress. Molecules rarely have all of these known modes of action present in RezGen5™. Our compounds are mimicking the benefits of a calorie restricted diet and exercise while lowering levels of glucose and insulin. It's a real game changer. These drugs in development would treat one disease, but unlike drugs of today, they would prevent 20 others. In effect, they would slow aging".  Mr. Garret is co-inventor of RezGen5  with Dr. Ronald W. Pero who has had academic appointments at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/PMI Strang Clinic in New York City.
