Michigan-based firms offer interactive activities designed to showcase the impact of broadband access and mobile/wireless technologies
PRLog - Oct. 23, 2013 - DETROIT -- The easiest way to understand the importance of broadband access to Michigan’s economy is to interact directly with the mobile/wireless technologies enabled by that access. To provide an opportunity for hands-on interaction, several members of the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM) will be showcasing their technologies to attendees at the 2013 Michigan Broadband Conference on October 24th at Lansing’s Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center at Michigan State University.

MTAM member firms participating in the hands-on showcase include:

-   JEMS Technology (Lake Orion)
-   Troop Health Initiatives, LLC (Bay City)
-   Results@Hand Software (Howell)
-   GeLo, Inc. (Holland)

“MTAM believes it is critically important for leaders in Michigan’s government, business, education, and economic development communities to understand the far-reaching impact that broadband access provides for every industry vertical via mobile/wireless technologies. The more broadband access, the more opportunities every type of business can have to increase their productivity and profitability by using mobile/wireless resources. Seeing and interacting with a few of those examples directly will open their eyes to the possibilities, so MTAM is happy to bring our members in to provide that experience,” states Linda Daichendt, executive director of the statewide trade association.

Firms and technologies being showcased include:

JEMS Technology and Troop Health Initiatives jointly showcasing the JEMS mobile telemedicine solution which enables healthcare workers using a smart device (cell phone or tablet) to participate in patient care from any remote location; a physician can consult a surgery, a neurologist can complete a full stroke evaluation, an injured/ailing prisoner can be safely diagnosed without the imminent dangers of transport – and all of this can be achieved in full compliance with state and federal regulations. Conference attendees with a smart device will be able to try out the JEMS mobile telemedicine solution for themselves.

Results@Hand Software is helping Connect Michigan stay GREEN by providing ‘The Michigan Broadband Conference App’ that provides many great features including: program information with session materials available for review before, during and after the event; conference update alerts; search and connect capabilities based on criteria that includes speakers, attendees, exhibitors, and support staff; real-time session polls & surveys; session, speaker and overall event evaluations; the ability to take and share notes during the event; as well as the ability to track follow-ups with new contacts and much more.

GeLo is showcasing its Bluetooth Smart Beacon mobile location technology in which beacons are deployed at any venue at various points of interest. The app then reads the beacon and triggers specific information about the referenced point of interest. From a museum walk, to a scavenger hunt, GeLo’s beacon solutions provide an exciting interactive experience. Conference attendees who are Apple device users will be able to download GeLo Tours from the App Store to experience GeLo Beacon Technology on their own devices.
