African Finance: Casablanca Finance City and CISI Sign new Partnership

Casablanca Finance City (CFC www.casablancafinancecity.com) and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI http://www.cisi.org) signed this Monday 25th of November, in CFC’s Headquarters in Casablanca, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to enhance and promote professionalism and professional standards in the financial services industry in Morocco and throughout the region.

Thanks to this partnership, Morocco will be able to offer more than 50 CISI certifications. These include certificates and diplomas in asset management, corporate finance, derivatives, investment and private banking counselling, wealth management, Islamic finance and risk management in the financial services sector.

Taking the floor during the signing ceremony that was attended by several personalities, CFC’s CEO, Said Ibrahimi, welcomed this new partnership and described CISI as “one of the most widely recognized and respected professional bodies in the circles of financial services professionals.” He added “this partnership will help strengthen the positioning of Casablanca Finance City as a hub for operational excellence in the region."

The ceremony was marked by the launch of two examination centers in Morocco, located at the International University of Casablanca and at the “Fourth R Center” in Rabat.

Mr. Ibrahimi declared that "through this cooperation with the CISI, we will be able to meet the growing needs of Casablanca Finance City in terms of highly skilled professionals in various fields relating to the financial services industry."

Echoing Mr. Ibrahimi, the CEO of CISI, Simon Culhane, revealed "we are delighted to work with Casablanca Finance City to promote the highest professional standards in the financial services industry in Morocco and throughout the continent.”

“We believe in the potential of CFC as a hub to boost financial professionalism throughout francophone Africa and beyond," he said.

Casablanca Finance City is a financial center that seeks to make of Casablanca a regional hub for financial institutions, multinational corporations and professional services. CFC aims to become a financial gateway for the rest of the continent and in particular for the greater area of North, West and Central Africa.

CISI is the largest professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of major financial centres around the world. In the past year, the center set over 39,000 examinations in 68 countries, covering a range of vocational qualifications. It musters more than 40,000 members in 89 countries.
