New War Novel II CORPS: the CIA in Vietnam Tells Gritty Story of the Special Forces in Vietnam

II CORPS: the CIA in Vietnam picks up the story of the Vietnam Conflict where Wode Susu – My Uncle left off, exploring the real action through the eyes of a Special Forces soldier.

Denver, CO, Honolulu, HI – Based on a true story, II CORPS: The CIA in Vietnam promises to draw readers into the graphic gun battles and dog fights that peppered the sometimes hellish life of Special Forces soldiers in the Vietnam Conflict. The newly released action/adventure is published by Outskirts Press.

II CORPS is author Tim Lilly’s second in a series that offers an in-depth look at the Vietnam Conflict and the events surrounding its causes and its devastating effects. The book picks up where the first novel, Wode Susu-My Uncle-A Story of the Chinese Mafia, left off. Where Wode Susu tells a story through the eyes of the Chinese Mafia boss Chan Wan San’s nephew, Randal Ting, and his best friend was Tommy Landis, in II Corps Tommy reveals the story of his father, Nathan Landis

From his upbringing in a rural coal town Nathan takes up with the OSS at the end of World War II and is subsequently recruited by the CIA to Force 784 for his part in the Korean War and then sent to Vietnam. From there, he is appointed Declared Agent to the Consulate General and Director of Air Operations of Air America for Military Region 2, II Corps, Nha Trang, Republic of South Vietnam.

Force 784 is a little-known branch of the CIA that served as the beginnings of the very first Delta Force Teams, comprised of Air Commandos and Green Berets, which would recruit the best soldiers from all branches of the Special Forces and operators and pilots from the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. Not only does Landis serve as Director of Air Operations – he also participates in all the highly classified clandestine operations in Southeast Asia. Wise to an illegal profiteering scheme, it’s his duty to root out the perpetrators. … He is also well aware that doing so will more than likely end his career in the Foreign Service.

Tim Lilly’s II Corps: The CIA in Vietnam lays out the gritty, graphic action of life in war in the tradition of “Platoon” and “Full Metal Jacket.” Readers will feel the humidity of the jungle and the thrum of gunfire, and hear the screams of dying men. Colorful characters bring to vivid life a tale that was all too real for many. Welcome to the real war in Vietnam.

II CORPS: The CIA in Vietnam is available online in paperback through Outskirts Press at www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore. The book is sold through Amazon and Barnes and Noble for a maximum trade discount in quantities of 10 or more.
