Adobe Adds 3D Printing To Photoshop With One-Click Access To Shapeways And Makerbots

In a minor but interesting update Adobe as added direct 3D printing via Shapeways or your own personal Makerbot to the subscription-based Photoshop CC. The company announced the feature on their corporate blog. 3D printing capabilities available in Photoshop CC enable Creative Cloud members to easily and reliably build, refine, preview, prepare and print 3D designs. All you have to do is click “Print.” The application supports Shapeways for cloud-based printing – it will upload your design and allow you to print it via their service – or you can connect to local printers like the Replicator 2. Makerbot recently worked with Microsoft to add 3D printing support directly into Windows 8 through a driver update. You can download the update here and try it out on the Creative Cloud edition of the app. The system supports all of the standard 3D printer settings including raft and scaffolding controls to keep the print stable on the print bed. Obviously you also have to feed Photoshop a proper 3D file. The rest, as they say, is magic.
