PRLog - Feb. 10, 2014 - The Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry will host their 8th Annual Cooks and Books Festival, which will take place on February 23, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa. Folks from throughout the Lowcountry and coastal Georgia area have flocked to this fun-filled, family-friendly event in the past, and they are expected to do so again this year. The presenting sponsor is Hilton Head Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.

"We're looking forward to participating in this event again this year," said John Lyons, General Manager of Hilton Head Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.  "We always have a great time sampling the food and meeting the authors."

This wonderful event draws foodies from across the region to savor the gourmet delights from a wide assortment of award-winning local restaurants, and all attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dish to win the People’s Choice Award.

Participating local restaurants include 843, Bomboras Grille, Chart House, Corner Perk Café, CQs, ELA’s Blu Water Grille, Frankie Bones, Hugo’s Seafood & Steakhouse, Mulberry Street Trattoria, The Joyful Palate, Old Fort Pub, Pino Gelato, Skillets Café & Grille, Roastfish & Cornbread, The French Kiss Bakery, and WiseGuys.

The hotly contested chefs’ competition, always a crowd favorite, will feature top chefs from some of the area’s best restaurants, including:

Joseph Sullivan – Mulberry Street Trattoria
Keith Josefiak – Old Fort Pub
Stephen Stewart – TidePointe

Attendees will also be able to chat with 17 outstanding Lowcountry writers who will be happy to autograph copies of their books, which will be available for purchase at the event.

The master of ceremonies for the 2014 Cooks and Books Festival will be Sonny Dixon of WTOC-TV Channel 11 in Savannah.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The price of admission includes unlimited tastings, the chefs’ competition, access to the Lowcountry authors, and the chance to vote for a favorite dish in The Peoples’ Choice.
