Chinese Manufacturing Contracts, Markets Fall

The markets extended its losses during the midday with the Dow falling 56 points to 16,246 as Chinese manufacturing activity continued to contract. Nasdaq plummeted 65points to 4211.

On the upside

InterCloud Systems (Nasdaq: ICLD) will acquire VaultLogix.

Three additional representative from Icahn Enterprises will join the board of Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) bringing the total number of Icahn representatives to five.

Maxim Group upgraded Achillion Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ACHN) from a Hold rating to a Buy rating.

On the downside


Shares of Kandi Technologies (Nasdaq: KNDI) continued falling.

Investors locked in profits on NII Holdings (Nasdaq: NIHD).

Profit taking sank shares of Aastrom Biosciences (Nasdaq: ASTM).

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of 7 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 5 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 fell 12 points to 1853. Bitcoin slipped $1.81 or 0.32% to $564.00.
