New Jersey American Water Provides an Early Refund to Camden’s Kroc Center

Today, New Jersey American Water presented The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Administrators, Majors Paul and Alma Cain with a check to the Kroc Center for $175,000. The check represents an early refund of developer fees that are typically paid back progressively over several years. According to Carmen Tierno, senior director of the Delaware Operational Area for New Jersey American Water, “We decided to give the Kroc Center the entire refund at once in recognition for the extraordinarily positive contributions it is making to the City of Camden and the region.”

“What a great gift back to the community,” said Kroc Center Administrator Major Paul Cain. “We are very appreciative of New Jersey American Water’s partnership and grateful for this big funding assistance as we finalize our Center.”

Situated on 24 acres in Camden’s Cramer Hill neighborhood, the Kroc Center will be a 120,000-square foot facility that will house an array of programs designed to address the economic, educational, health, and recreational needs of area communities. Opening in October, the center will include a full size gymnasium, and indoor competition pool and water park, black box theater, community gathering plaza, media center, learning center, culinary arts teaching kitchen, choice food pantry, youth center, senior center, athletic fields and health clinic.
