Pasolivo Olive Oil announced today that it has added to its growing gallery of accolades by winning back-to-back gold medals for its extra virgin olive oil—first at the New York International Olive Oil Competition, then at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
These are the two most prestigious competitions in the United States; Pasolivo’s California Blend was recognized as one of the very best oils in the world, competing alongside Italy, Spain, Tunisia and many other countries.
A blend of beautiful complexity
Judges were impressed with the complexity of Pasolivo’s entry, remarking on its “abundant fruitiness, green leaves, sweetness, bitterness, medium pungency and notes of almond, bitter, with exceptional harmony, a high complexity and a high persistence.”
Pasolivo President Brian Dirk is understandably upbeat, remarking, “We’re pleased to receive these two prestigious gold medals because the California Blend is always a customer favorite. This win is clearly the payoff for the significant investments we’ve made in the orchard since becoming stewards of the property, and because of our constant quest for perfection.”
Pasolivo is no stranger to the podium
Pasolivo has received frequent praise and publicity, having previously won gold medals at the San Diego Wine and Food Competition, and ranking as a Top 10 Oil in the World by Der Feinschmecker, which hosts one of the world’s largest international olive oil tastings. Pasolivo has also been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine, Saveur, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and other publications.
Organically grown, hand-picked and master-blended—with loving care
Pasolivo olive oils are made from olive trees grown organically and sustainably in its orchard tucked in the sunny hills of the Paso Robles wine country in California. The orchard produces premium extra virgin olive oils from 10 varietals that are hand-picked, milled and master-blended on the property.
In addition to the award-winning California Blend, Pasolivo also offers two other extra virgin olive oils, along with flavored oils such as lemon, lime, tangerine, citrus, basil and rosemary.
Long-time customer and frequent visitor to the Pasolivo tasting room Marina Veldin said, “Pasolivo is a really special place with unique and delicious olive oils. I’m already anticipating my next trip to taste and buy this award-winning olive oil.” Guests planning vacation trips can experience the award-winning oils in the tasting room, open seven days a week offering free tastings plus tours of its olive press, along with a pantry full of other hand-crafted, organic specialty foods.
