WHAT: The Costa Rica Times, Publisher Dan Stevens announced this week. “that applications are now being accepted for the Costa Rica Times Journalism Intern Program”. Recent graduates and students who wish to immerse themselves in the culture and surroundings of Costa Rica, ‘the Switzerland of South America’ may be sent to email dan@costaricantimes.com.
The CRTJI Program will be held in Playa Hermosa just south of Jaco, in the Canton (state) of Puntarenas on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica; a region preserved from rampant commercialism, over development and remains, to a certain extent, ecologically unspoiled.
WHEN: The six-week Costa Rica Journalism Intern Program (CRTJI Program) is slated to begin in November through the end of December 2014 with credentials being granted prior to ‘the Holidays’. The CRTJI Program is where the pursuit of knowledge coalesces with hands on journalistic experience, resulting in professional credits and bi-lines. The curriculum is set against a backdrop that encourages exploration of the surroundings geared toward the participants’ special interests.
WHERE: Residential accommodations will be provided in comfortable, open-plan housing. Situated in Playa Hermosa, just outside of Jacó, on the Pacific side of the country this region is home to some of the most secluded surfing beaches in the world and is a coconut toss from active volcanoes and tropical rain forests where the fragile ecosystem is the indigenous habitat of two-thirds of all living animal and plant species on the planet.
You will experience sailing in a catamaran at sunset, traversing the stunning canopy of the stunning Monteverde Cloud Forest, hiking the Manuel Antonio National Preserve shrouded in primeval mystery, and free diving in clear Pacific waters courtesy of our esteemed sponsors.
WHO The Costa Rican Times’ Journalism Intern Program is comprised of a knowledgeable and seasoned news staff imparting “insider’s Intel’ on all manner of news gathering. Situated in a relaxed setting the CRTJI Program English language program focuses on investigative reporting, article writing, photo journalism, radio podcasting, video production and broadcasting. The program combines the multi-faceted areas of news gathering and aggregation with insights into new media and traditional journalism.
WHY: We are seeking individuals who rightfully resist becoming a cog in someone else’s wheel. Post graduates and students have the luxury and freedom to dip into several professional pools before embarking on a dedicated career commitment. The CRTJI Program internship gives candidates, with newly minted educations, a test drive on that road less traveled.
Bolt that cubicle and break the mold, early registration is encouraged. For more information about the program visit http://journalisminternshipsabroad.com/
