Black Hills Energy Brings Discounted Tickets, New Power up Stations to the 142nd Annual Colorado State Fair and Rodeo

Black Hills Energy, the electric service provider to more than 94,000 customers in Southern Colorado, announced today that it has partnered with the 2014 Colorado State Fair and Rodeo, the state’s premier celebration of agriculture. As the official sponsor of American Heroes Day during the Fair, Black Hills Energy is offering customers discounted admission – Southern Colorado customers can show an original electricity bill at an admission gate and receive a $2 discount on Sunday, Aug. 24.

American Heroes Day is an annual celebration of military and first responders at the Colorado State Fair. In addition to the daily discount available with proof of affiliation, heroes can purchase rodeo tickets for $7 – a $5 savings on the original ticket price.

Black Hills will also bring three free ‘Power Up Customer Appreciation Lounges’ to the Fairgrounds for fair-goers to charge wireless devices during fair hours, making it easier to stay connected while enjoying this year’s lineup of exhibitors, events and entertainment. Power Up Lounges are located near the Palace of Agriculture (spaces 179 and 180), Colorado Building and Colorado Concourse (in front of the amphitheater) – for more information, a map of the 2014 Fairgrounds is available for download.

“The Colorado State Fair and Rodeo is the state’s signature event and we’re thrilled to play a role in making this year’s event a success,” said Christopher Burke, Black Hills Energy’s vice president of Colorado electric operations. “Black Hill’s sponsorship of American Heroes Day is our way of saying thank you to the men and women serving as first responders, emergency personnel and those in the military. In their honor we’re pleased to offer discounts to all of our customers interested in bringing their families to enjoy everything the Fair has to offer and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Fairgrounds.”

The Colorado State Fair kicks off on Friday, Aug. 22 and runs through Monday, Sept. 1. For more information on exhibitors and events, visit www.coloradostatefair.com.
