Analysis Group Senior Advisor Susan Tierney Receives C3E Lifetime Achievement Award

Analysis Group Senior Advisor Susan Tierney received the 2014 Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“Throughout her career as a respected expert in energy policy and economics, Susan has combined her deep industry knowledge with rigorous analytic ability to support a wide range of clean energy initiatives,” said Analysis Group President and CEO Martha Samuelson. “We are delighted that Susan’s accomplishments as a leader in the energy industry have been recognized by C3E.”

Dr. Tierney is being honored, along with eight mid-career women, for her work and accomplishments in the advancement of clean energy. “I am humbled and honored to be recognized by C3E alongside such an impressive group of women in the industry,” said Dr. Tierney. “So many women in the United States and around the world have played critical roles in supporting clean energy, and I join with C3E to celebrate them and encourage others to take up the cause.” Dr. Tierney was introduced at the event by her colleague, Analysis Group Vice President Andrea Okie.

The U.S. C3E organization, led by the U.S. Department of Energy and the MIT Energy Initiative, is an effort to advance the careers and leadership of professional women in the field of clean energy. The program is part of the international C3E initiative within the 23-government Clean Energy Ministerial framework.

Dr. Tierney also received the 2013 Leadership Award from New England Women in Energy and the Environment recognizing her professional achievements and the positive example she has set for women in the energy industry. At Analysis Group, she has consulted to companies, governments, non-profit organizations, and others on energy markets, as well as economic and environmental regulation and strategy. Dr. Tierney is a former Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Energy and has also served as state cabinet officer for environmental affairs and state public utility commissioner in Massachusetts. She chairs the External Advisory Board of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is a director of the World Resources Institute, and serves on several other boards. She has published widely and frequently speaks at industry conferences.
