“To transform China-U.S.A. tourism and protect travelers, government and industry must undertake diligent oversight and strict enforcement of China’s recently enacted Travel Law and U.S.A. laws must be followed by all tour operators to stop the current corrupt model of doing business,” Hentschel advised.

“President Xi Jinping proclaimed, ‘The Chinese Dream is about prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation, and the happiness of the people.’ President Xi Jinping’s mission to end rampant corruption including in the tourism industry of China is vital. Ethics in practice must be the new government and business model. This is of core interest to China and the world for the safety and trustworthy experiences of travelers equating to sustainable economic development,” Hentschel emphasized.

Requested by WTCF and Beijing Municipal Government, Hentschel presented development strategies for tourism growth, advising “Three action steps must be taken bilaterally: ‘First, Purification (净化 jìng huà)’ enforcement of travel, transportation and labor laws; Second, ‘Transformation (转变 zhuǎn biàn)’ industry guarantees to obey laws with accountability; Third, ‘Ascension (升华 shēng huá)’ focus on higher ethics, higher service standards, higher customer satisfaction raising all economic sectors up for future security.”

Hentschel serves as WTCF Deputy Secretary-General and Vice Chair of Strategic Alliances-Travel Related Industries, advising strategies to advance public-private cooperation for economic development and job creation. Hentschel holds a Masters Degree in Theological Studies, specializing in Mariology for Virtue Ethics in Business and International Relations, conferred by The Franciscan School of Theology at the Graduate Theological Union, U.C.
