Synovus and Fox Sports South Launch Promotion to Honor Community Leaders

Synovus, in partnership with Fox Sports South, announces a special promotion to honor individuals who have changed their communities for the better. This promotion is part of the company’s ‘bank of here’ campaign which highlights Synovus’ strong community ties and ability to connect with customers through personal relationships.

The promotion begins this week with two videos airing on both Fox Sports South and Sports South, and will feature the efforts of four Synovus team members who are making a positive impact in their communities:

Darron Burnette, President and CEO of Synovus’ Sea Island Bank in Statesboro, Georgia, is being recognized for helping to raise awareness and more than $200,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association through numerous events to provide care and support for those living with the disease. Burnette’s passion and drive to support the Alzheimer’s Association was inspired by his mother, Miriam, who passed away from the disease in 2012.

Meredith Malcom, Senior Vice President for Synovus’ AFB&T in Monroe, Georgia, is being recognized for stepping in when the owner of the largest dental practice in town became seriously ill. She coordinated with the customers’ attorney, accountant, staff, and family to keep the business going while the customer recuperated.

Linda Yarrell, Branch Manager with Synovus’ NBSC in Columbia, South Carolina, with her husband, established the “Columbia Friends of the Homeless” organization in 2009, and today they prepare and deliver more than 1,000 hot meals a month to the homeless in the community.

Synovus’ First Commercial Bank of Huntsville, Alabama was profiled for their support of an active duty military unit stationed in Afghanistan. Cheryl McGuire, the mother of one of the soldiers in the unit and team member of First Commercial, coordinated the five branches of the division to collect items to create care packages for the troops.
