Tennessee’s Rutherford County Courts Now Accepting Credit and Debit Cards

The Rutherford County, Tennessee Circuit Court Clerk has recently launched a new secure payment processing system that allows citizens to make payments with credit/debit cards at the Clerk’s office.

“We are very happy to be accepting credit and debit card payments at our office,” said Melissa Harrell, Circuit Court Clerk. “We are always looking for ways to increase the services we provide to the community. Our strategic plan included giving residents the option to pay court fees with a credit card, so this is convenient, secure and it also enhances our customer service.”

The Rutherford County Circuit Court Clerk’s office partnered with NIC’s Tennessee Information Division to provide this payment processing service. The solution is specifically designed for state and municipal governments to process credit cards over the counter and online. The partnership operates under a self-funded model, and no tax dollars were used to develop and maintain the payment service.
