Siller & Cohen Expands into Non-Profit Consulting Sector, Appoints John Amirante as Director of Philanthropy

Randy P. Siller and Jeffrey Cohen, registered representatives of Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp. and co-founders of Siller & Cohen, a premier fee-based family wealth advisory firm with locations in Rye Brook, N.Y. and New York City, today announced the appointment of John Amirante as director of philanthropy for the firm. In his role, Amirante will head up Siller & Cohen’s Non-Profit Consulting Division, and will be responsible for providing investment consulting services to non-profit organizations and their fiduciaries, and for enhancing the capabilities of its Charitable Services Team.

As part of his new affiliation, Amirante will become a member of Sagemark Consulting Private Wealth Services Group, an elite group of planners within Sagemark Consulting, a division of Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp.

Prior to joining Siller & Cohen, Amirante, who has 18 years of experience in the non-profit consulting and private wealth management space, served as a vice president of Wells Fargo Private Bank in Philadelphia, from 2005 to 2014. In that role, Amirante developed and implemented key initiatives that provided wealth management teams with a deeper understanding of the investment issues non-profits face as stewards of donor gifted endowments, and the challenges facing families leaving their wealth as a legacy. Prior to this role, Amirante served as senior philanthropic advisor at Wells Fargo, providing investment and planned giving consulting to investment boards and trustees of non-profits and private foundations in the Northeast. His team was responsible for the management of $2 billion in client endowment and foundation assets.

“We are thrilled John has joined our team,” said Siller. “To the extent we can help clients navigate the myriad of charitable vehicles available, and provide best-in-class investment services to the nonprofits they care so deeply about, we believe we are doing good for the community.”

“Today, donors look at the assets they have identified for charitable purposes, not as gifts without accountability, but as an investment pool that should be actively and thoughtfully managed, just as they do with their retirement and estate assets,” says Cohen. “Investment committees and foundation boards need to understand the importance their investment policy plays, in terms of the future performance of these funds, and also its role in attracting new investors to their cause.”

Amirante has served as executive planned giving officer for the Boy Scouts of America Central New Jersey Council and served on the Foundation Board for CentraState Medical Center located in Freehold, N.J. He is a Certified Investment Management AnalystSM (CIMA®), and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®). He received a master of business administration degree from Columbia University in New York City.

Amirante has offices in Siller & Cohen’s Rye Brook, N.Y. headquarters and its New York City location, as well as an office in Freehold, N.J.
