Concord Law School Celebrates 23rd Graduation

Concord Law School of Kaplan University, the nation’s first fully-online law school, held its 23rd graduation today at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

The graduating class included 65 graduates of the Juris Doctor program and 40 who earned an Executive Juris Doctor degree. In addition, this graduating class included 2 graduates of Concord's Small Business Practice LLM program designed for lawyers and law school graduates who want practical courses focused on the needs of small business clients.

Concord Law School Interim Dean Larry David conferred the degrees to graduates who hail from 24 states. Veronica Dillon, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Graham Holdings Company, was the graduation speaker.

Four graduates were recognized for their service to the legal community, contributions to the Law School, and academic excellence.

Heather A. Martino from Woodside, New York, received the Kaplan Award for Legal Services. The award honors the Concord graduate who demonstrated excellence in professionalism and exemplary service to the legal community.

Erin Smith (Fishers, Indiana) and Elizabeth Ann Wood (New Bern, North Carolina) received the Jack R. Goetz Award for Academic Excellence. Named for the founding Dean of Concord Law School, it recognizes the JD graduate with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Tammy Gardner of Amherst, New York was honored with the Sue Lane Award. Named for Concord Law School’s first registrar, the award recognizes one student from the graduating class who embodies a strong work ethic, compassionate nature and service to the community.
