IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Hosts Inaugural National Electric Safety Code® (NESC®) Summit: Past, Present And Future

IEEE, the world's largest professional organization advancing technology for humanity, announced today that the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) will host the inaugural National Electric Safety Code® (NESC®) Summit: Past, Present and Future on 28-29 April 2015 at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia. This event will set the stage for users to convene and examine the issues that impact the NESC. Registration for this inaugural event is available now.

The summit will examine key issues, such as resiliency, safety, reliability, installation, operation, and maintenance that impact the NESC and the industry today as it pertains to relevant stakeholders, including government, industry (non-utility), utilities, trade associations and others.

“As wind farms, rooftop solar, and more are adopted into the electrical system, NESC is bringing together stakeholders to create a code to meet these evolving needs of the power industry, said Mike Hyland, NESC chair and senior vice president at the American Public Power Association. “Continuing upon the NESC’s first 100 years of success, this inaugural event is taking place to gather users to examine and help guide the next 100 years of safety in the changing electrical power and communications environments.”

Ms. Pat Hoffman, Assistant Secretary for the office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, (OE) United States Department of Energy (DoE) will keynote the event.
