Kimley-Horn Recognized on FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work For

North Carolina-based Kimley-Horn was recently recognized as one of FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies to Work For. This marks the 8th time the company has made the list—this year, they rank #25.

“What makes this recognition so special is that two-thirds of our score is based on an employee satisfaction survey,” says Kimley-Horn president and CEO John Atz. “When people enjoy coming to work, it’s evident through their commitment to each other and the quality service they deliver to clients. I’m happy to see our culture fosters such an environment.”

Kimley-Horn was recognized for its culture, including employee camaraderie and the level of trust employees have in company leadership—important attributes, especially during times of growth. In 2014, Kimley-Horn had a yearly job growth of 17%, hiring more than 400 employees and opening eight new offices nationwide. Currently, more than 200 open job positions are listed on the company website.

Kimley-Horn is a 2,200-person firm with more than 70 offices nationwide. It has been named eight times as one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, and is ranked among the top 25 pure design and transportation firms in the nation by Engineering News-Record. Fortune partners annually with Great Place to Work® to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America to identify the 100 Best Companies to Work For ®. Two-thirds of a company's survey score is based on the results of the Trust Index © Employee Survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. This survey asks questions related to employees' attitudes about management's credibility, overall job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the Culture Audit ©, which includes detailed questionnaires about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts.
