Merrill Corporation Announces Divestiture of its Legal Solutions Business

Merrill Corporation (www.merrillcorp.com), a global leader in secure content sharing, disclosure, and regulated communications today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Legal Solutions business, in its entirety, to DTI (www.dtiglobal.com), a leading legal process outsourcing service provider. Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2016, were not disclosed.

Upon the completion of the transaction, Merrill employees within the company’s Legal Solutions business will transition to DTI. Businesses within Legal Solutions include Deposition and Court Reporting Services, Document Service Centers, eDiscovery and Managed Review, and Document Processing.

“We view this as a smart strategic move for both companies,” said Rusty Wiley, Chief Executive Officer of Merrill Corporation. “This will allow us to step up investment in our core businesses and technology platforms and ensure our Legal Solutions clients continue to receive an exceptional service experience.”

“Our vision is to be the preeminent legal process outsourcing provider in the world,” said John Davenport, Jr., CEO and Founder of DTI. “Merrill’s Legal Solutions business – its people, technology solutions and service locations – will align well with our strategy of establishing an international network of service locations to serve our clients wherever they conduct legal matters.”
