Twelve Thompson Hine Lawyers Recognized by Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers

Twelve lawyers from Thompson Hine LLP, representing over one-third of its 33-lawyer Washington, D.C. office, were recently selected for inclusion in the 2015 edition of Washington, D.C. Karyn A. Booth (Transportation) – Booth, who leads the firm’s Transportation practice group, represents multinational corporations, industrial interests, trade associations and transportation intermediaries, such as 3PLs and NVOCCs, in domestic and international matters involving multimodal transportation and logistics services. Her practice covers regulatory, commercial, policy and litigation matters involving the carriage of goods by vessel, rail, motor and air carriers.

Sandra L. Brown (Transportation) – Brown represents bulk commodity shippers and other users of transportation services, such as Fortune 500 companies, electric utilities, state and local government entities, and ports, that buy, sell or move coal, aggregates, chemicals, crude oil and other hazardous materials by rail. Prior to entering private practice she was an attorney with the Interstate Commerce Commission.

Nicholas J. DiMichael (Transportation) – DiMichael assists shippers in developing arrangements to satisfy their domestic and international transportation needs and in complex transportation-related litigation. He has participated in many major proceedings before the Surface Transportation Board and its predecessor, the Interstate Commerce Commission, as well as before the Department of Transportation, Federal Maritime Commission and other agencies concerned with transportation.

Charles A. Hunnicutt (Transportation, International Trade) – Hunnicutt focuses his practice on all aspects of transportation and logistics, with particular emphasis on government regulatory matters and international policy. His background includes extensive experience in transportation policy and international trade, having served with the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Commerce.

Jeff Moreno (Transportation) – Moreno provides guidance on commercial transportation and regulatory matters, with a heavy focus on rail and truck transportation. He represents major utility, petrochemical, mining, agricultural, metals, automotive and other industrial interests. He advises shippers and transportation intermediaries on contract matters, service issues, loss and damage claims, hazardous materials liability, rail line purchase and construction, rail abandonments, rail car leases and a host of related issues, and represents their interests in litigation or arbitration.

John T. Bergin (Construction, Government Contracts) – Bergin represents owners, contractors and design professionals in complex, multiparty construction and government contract disputes. He has defended clients’ interests in connection with business torts alleging conspiracy, defamation, fraud, negligent misrepresentation and intentional interference within contractual and business relationships.

Clifton E. McCann (Intellectual Property) – McCann is a registered patent attorney and a trial and appellate attorney, with a focus on chemical, mechanical, biological and business method technologies. He counsels clients on patent procurement, licensing, enforcement and defense; provides validity and infringement opinions; initiates and defends against patent infringement challenges in the federal courts; and handles post-grant proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also represents clients on trade secret, trademark and other intellectual property matters.

Lawrence M. Prosen (Construction, Government Contracts) – Prosen represents construction contractors and subcontractors in litigation matters and contract dispute issues. He has been involved in numerous projects both domestically and internationally, and has represented clients before many federal agencies. He also represents many non-construction clients on all aspects of government contracts matters, including protests, claims, disputes, contract reviews and due diligence matters for merger and acquisitions.

David A. Wilson (Business Litigation) – Wilson, who is partner-in-charge of the Washington, D.C. office, focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, internal and government investigations, and securities enforcement matters. He has led or otherwise been involved in many internal corporate investigations, including audit committee and special committee investigations.

Christian F. Henel (Construction, Government Contracts) – Henel assists clients in resolving disputes involving government contracts and construction-related issues through litigation in federal and state courts and alternative dispute resolution. Eric N. Heyer (Business Litigation) – Heyer’s experience encompasses a broad range of matters including contract disputes, business torts, employment matters, insurance claims, trademark and copyright litigation, challenges of federal government agency actions and consumer finance claims. He has represented clients’ interests in numerous jury and bench trials in federal and state courts around the country, as well as in private arbitrations.

Gunjan R. Talati (Government Contracts) – Talati’s practice focuses on all aspects of government contract law, including the procurement process, suspension and debarment, ethics and regulatory compliance, bid protests and claims pursuant to the Federal Acquisition Regulation. He has helped contractors of all sizes through contentious suspension and debarment proceedings before multiple agencies. Talati is an experienced litigator and has represented clients in bid protests.
