Dixie’s Elixirs are Back and Better Than Ever

Dixie Elixirs & Edibles, a Dixie Brands Inc. company and creator of the world famous Dixie Elixirs, is re-launching its flagship product just in time for 420. The Elixirs have been off the market for several months as the Company worked on development of a redesigned proprietary bottle, new flavors, new dosages and the refinement of its formulations to include all-natural ingredients. The prolonged market absence was due to new Colorado state regulations implemented February 1, 2015 which fundamentally changed the packaging and dosing of all edibles in Colorado. In an effort to create safer products and a stronger industry, the State and cannabis companies like Dixie worked together to define these new regulations which elevated the child-resistance of all packaging, and limited single-serving items to no more than 10MG of THC per serving. Multiple serving products are now required to be easily divisible into 10MG or less servings, and compliant packaging must be re-sealable to child-resistant state after first opening. “While the regulatory environment can be challenging at best and very costly at worst, we also know that the rules implemented on February 1, 2015 in Colorado were the right thing to do,” said Tripp Keber, CEO of Dixie Brands, Inc. “However, we were forced to search far and wide to find packaging for our flagship Elixir product that would meet our standards as well as meeting the compliance requirements of the State. Turns out, no packaging existed that was child resistant, re-sealable to child resistant state that also held carbonation and contained a measuring mechanism for dosing…so we invented it. However, making a new bottle doesn’t happen overnight. Instead of settling on inferior packaging, we made the decision to remove the Elixirs, which represent about 40% of our revenue, from the market while we waited for the new bottle to arrive.”

The Company’s newly all-natural Elixirs are available in Wild Berry Lemonade, Pomegranate, Sarsaparilla, Watermelon Cream, Blueberry & Peach Iced Tea. They contain no artificial coloring or flavors and are lightly carbonated for maximum refreshment. The dosing of each is 90MG, with the exception of the Watermelon Cream Elixir which is part of Dixie’s single-serving “One” line of products, and contains 10MG of THC.

Added Keber, “Although it has been a long, and financially painful, journey, we’re very proud of our team members, and packaging partners at Tricor Braun, for their patience, and vision, during this transition and we are excited to be back with these new flavors and an all-natural formulation. We are also appreciative of the patience of our customers who we know were eager to see this product back on the shelves. We thank you for your support.”

About the Elixir Bottle

At the crux of beauty and practicality is Dixie’s new proprietary Elixir bottle. Dixie worked with packaging experts Tricor Braun, to convert a jigger lock CR cap to hold carbonation. Dixie is proud to be the very first manufacturer in the country to build a proprietary CR structure designed specifically for carbonated beverages with dosing capabilities. The innovative design required slightly less than five months to complete, from initial concept/design to finished production of bottles—an almost unheard of timeline in packaging.

Available April 17, 2015. MSRP $20
