The world of reality television has seen its fair share of just about everything imaginable.  Enter "The Dugout," a new reality television series which will be produced by 495 Productions, the production company of the mega-hit, MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as My Big Friggin' Wedding, and its latest show, the REAL, which airs weekdays on FOX.

The baseball reality show is a new format for 495 Productions which traditionally creates strongly formatted, character-driven television shows anchored by colorful personalities engaging in off-the-wall exploits.  The Dugout, will be the production company's first entry into the docu-series format for Lifetime TV, and will focus on six different travel baseball teams and the struggles each team and their player's face to compete in the ultra-competitive world of travel baseball.

While many reality-based shows use drama to keep viewers glued to their TV sets, this show, which is set to tape 12 episodes for the initial season, will be quite the opposite and will attempt to reach a different audience than traditional reality shows have been doing.

"There are millions of households who want wholesome programming and have been requesting it for some time.  I think you are going to see a change in reality television in the next few years with regard to programming," said Robert Simonne, spokesperson for 495 productions.  "We are currently in the casting stage and will be shooting teams from Florida, Texas and Arizona, three states which feature year-round youth baseball."

The show will document 6 average teams as they prepare players to enter the highly competitive, big money level of prep-baseball.  The focus will be on three 13 year-old teams and three 14 year-old teams along with players, coaches and parent interviews as they attempt to achieve prospect status while climbing their way to the high-school level."

Among the teams being considered in Florida, are the Heat Baseball Team currently playing out of Lake Park, the Renegades Baseball Club from Tampa, and the Vipers out of Jacksonville.  The teams being considered in Texas are the Houston Heat, the San Antonio Nation and the Corpus Christi Mariners. The teams out of Arizona feature the Snipers playing out of Scottsdale, the Coyote Black also playing out of Scottsdale, as well as the Sting Baseball Club playing out of Surprise, Arizona.

The company hopes to complete casting sometime in June with shooting set to start in September for a January 2016 airing.
