JPMorgan Chase will announce a $300,000 donation to One Summer
Chicago, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s signature summer jobs program, to help
youth earn certifications in four career sectors: information
technology, health sciences, transportation, and manufacturing that
will start them on a path to career employment. The workforce
program is a partnership with Chicago Public Schools and provides
students with:

high-demand fields

Relevant training and hands-on experiences that will lead to
employment in high-growth, high-demand fields

A “leg-up” for students that will put them ahead of their peers
as they enter into either post-secondary education or employment

The announcement will occur at the Summer Youth Employment Summit
that JPMorgan Chase is hosting for Midwest non-profit organizations
and municipal and agency professionals that focus on youth workforce
initiatives and consists of four panels:

Policy: The importance of tackling the youth employment crisis
and the value of early work experiences. Includes results of the
University of Chicago’s Crime Lab research about violence and
unemployed youth, as well as the JPMorgan Chase Summer Youth
Employment survey.

Skill Based Programming: Skill building and best practices of
sector based summer employment programs.

Fin Cap: Research and technology that bolsters the financial
empowerment of low income youth.

Community Impact/Other Models: Best practice models that
integrate summer youth employment as part of comprehensive
community development plans.
