With the help of a Kickstarter campaign, Jay Seldin sets out to complete a limited edition publishing project focused on the daily life of the residents of Cuba. The book will be nearly 200 pages and showcase 80-plus black and white high resolution photographs.

“The Cubans” is a book about the people who live in a place where time stands still and change barely exists. It is about families and their creative resourcefulness for survival. When I first traveled to The Republic of Cuba in the mid 2000's, I started to document the day to day life of the average Cuban. The trips started as a personal documentation but have turned into much more than I could have ever imagined,” shares Seldin. “I am a photographer, a teacher, and a "teller of tales".  My photographs are the words that tell a story of the people, the trials, the love, and the hope that is seen throughout this beautiful country.”

The book is a hard cover 10.5" w x 9.5" h, horizontal format book.  The volume of beautifully luminous photographs will be worthy of archiving, and limited to a print run of only 1,000 copies. In addition to the photographs, contributing remarks from Larry McKim, artist and independent curator, Charles V. Bagli, New York Times reporter, and Sergio Leyva Seiglie, young photojournalist from Cuba, are included.
