Brisbane, AU – On September 1 2015, Lola Woolnough launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new line of environmentally friendly, non-toxic teething and bath toys. Made of 100% natural rubber, these funky toys are designed in Australia and handcrafted in Spain.
“The company that makes our toys have been making pure natural rubber toys since 1951, using premium quality rubber and strict safety regulations,” the creator explains, “They have a strongly ecologic and eco-friendly mindset resulting in 100% natural, ecologic and biodegradable product. All our toys are handmade without the use of any machinery resulting in an exclusive and unique product free of PVC, BPA, Phthalates and Nitrosamines.”
When designing these teething toys the team realized that they wanted a toy that could also go into the water, as teething pains don’t stop in the bath! They decided to make the toys with no holes in them to completely remove the risk of mould growing within the toy.
Mini-lolo toys are coloured by embedding food colouring into the rubber, and not painted on the outside, making it very safe to chew. The food colouring used is tested to ensure its quality, resulting in a safe toy that can be used for babies to chew and bathe with.
“We decided to have the toys in one plain, solid colour with no paint on the outside for two main reasons. The first one is to avoid babies chewing through the paint and the second one is to encourage imagination,” says Woolnough, “We chose the toys to be squishable and not solid to make it more suitable as a teething toy and harmless if they are thrown around. We found toddlers love to throw them and see them bounce of the floor!”
