Smiths Detection Inc. Expert to Present on Mobile, Roving Security Screening Solutions at Secured Cities Conference

Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI) hazmat expert Dr. Chris Weber will present on best practices and technology solutions for mobile security screening at the 7th Annual Secured Cities conference, November 10-12 in Houston, TX.

Secured Cities brings together national municipal leaders in public safety, law enforcement and the private and institutional security sectors. The conference focuses on emergency management solutions, presented through workshops, on topics ranging from management and operations, to partnerships, funding and grant approvals, and more.

Terry Gibson, President of Smiths Detection Inc., said, “SDI is committing to working with our customers to help them safely do the important work of protecting their communities with the most advanced and trusted technologies for the job. Working together at events like this, where we can learn from and share with the emergency management community, helps SDI deepen the relationships it has with customers and aligns with our mission and unwavering commitment to deliver technology solutions for a safer world.”

Dr. Weber will partner with Dean DeMark, Hazmat Specialist, for Cumberland Road Fire of Fayetteville, NC. Their first presentation, “Mass Transit and Campus Security: Mobile Screening Comes of Age,” on Tuesday, November 10, will discuss how Mobile x-ray vehicles and checkpoints, coupled with fast, portable, trace detectors of explosives and drugs, make screening at events, schools and on mass transit possible and communities safer having the flexibility to leverage solutions as needed.

On November 11, Dr. Weber and DeMark will present on “Roving Detection and Identification (DID) Teams for Security and Contraband Interdiction,” which will examine how lightweight, accurate mobile solutions enhance roving interdiction teams in a layered protection approach.
