A collection of beautiful pictures, stories and designs from the biggest work of art by ToyismGRONINGEN, Netherlands – October 13, 2015 – Toyists are a playful, international group of artists with all kinds of backgrounds, religions, worldviews, and life values. Together they are Toyism!
It is a new international art movement, who use colorful and storytelling art. There is a story behind every painting, sculpture, object or building that they create. These stories reflect how the Toyists see the world. It is not about individuals, politics, or religion; it is about art and the collective. That’s why they don’t show their faces but wear masks instead.
Besides paintings, sculptures and silkscreens they also transform buildings or industrial objects into pieces of art. One of the best examples of an industrial object is The Dot. The Dot is a giant globe-like container used to store gas. When this gas container was no longer used, the Toyists turned it into an enormous spherical painting, called The Dot.
Project The Dot started as a dream for the Toyists. Painting an enormous gas container is not something people would expect. Getting the project funded was a huge undertaking that took many years to complete. Through crowdfunding and by government grants they were able to make our dream come true. Thanks to many people, The Dot is now the biggest artwork in the Netherlands. Now that the project is finished The Dot deserves a book of its own – “The Dot.” The book will feature the story and the working process of The Dot. Through many beautiful, full-color images, hand crafted sketches, photos, cartoons, stories, and personal anecdotes, they want to share their way of working and creating art. Toyism cares deeply what’s inside the book, their art is what they are. And they would love to share it with the world because people are important to them. However, before everyone can enjoy this beautiful book, Toyism needs support.
That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise €25,000 by November 8, 2015. The funds raised will go towards finishing and publishing the book.
