On the upside
MaxLinear (NYSE: MXL) reversed year ago losses to post a stronger than expected profit for the third quarter and forecast current quarter revenue ahead of estimates.
Paycom Software (NYSE: PAYC) reported higher third quarter earnings and revenue that topped analyst estimates.
Lumber Liquidatos (NYSE: LL) fell to a loss for the third quarter but the company named John Presley as part of its strategy to return to profitability.
On the downside
Groupon (Nasdaq: GRPN) widened losses for the third quarter and appointed Rich Williams to the position of chief executive officer.
Enphase Energy (Nasdaq: ENPH) reported lower third quarter earnings that missed expectations and forecast current quarter revenue below estimates.
Plains GP (NYSE: PAGP) disappointed with lower third quarter earnings and revenue that fell short of expectations.
In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of 10 to 9 on the NYSE while advancers edged out decliners by more than 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped a point to 2,108. Bitcoin leaped $79 to $466.
